laceweight
Fuzz: Super-soft, fuzzy mohair/ silk laceweight, this yarn works beautifully on its own or held together with another yarn. Fuzz is available in 50g skeins and cakes of 64% kid mohair and 36% silk, with 420 m/ 459 yards per 50g. (Prior to Sept. 2024, Fuzz consisted of 72% kid mohair, 28% silk, with the same yardage.)
I dye the following laceweight yarns infrequently. If you are interested in a particular base, please let me know by sending me a special request.
merino heavylace: This hard-working heavy laceweight/ light fingering is 100% superwash merino. Available in 150g skeins, it takes colour well and offers great yardage for those larger shawl projects: 750 m (822 yds) per skein.
MCS heavy lace: MCS heavy lace is soft, drapey blend of merino (75%), cashmere (15%), and silk (10%) with moderate sheen. On the heavier end of lace weight, it comes in 115g skeins that offer 575 m/ 629 yd each.
camel/ silk lace: Half camel and half silk, this yarn is a delightfully sleek and shiny 2-ply laceweight that glistens like copper and feels like cool water in the hand. The natural colour of the camel gently mutes the dyes, creating rich, sophisticated colours. 800m (875 yd) per 95g skein.
silky cashmere lace: This super-soft two-ply yarn has a delicious shine that shows off its slightly muted colours. Half silk, half cashmere, this base replaces the now-discontinued silk cashmere lace, upping the amount of cashmere to push the luxury factor over the top. 100g skeins, 789m (863 yds).
silky linen heavy lace: This two-ply falls between a heavy lace or light fingering weight. Its 65% silk/ 35% linen blend means that it is wool-free (a bonus for those who can’t tolerate wool) and that it takes the dye in ways that create soft, muted colours. The yarn has a light, dry hand and feels quite soft to the touch. It tends to shed a bit of lint during knitting, but blocks out to a soft, drapey fabric. 115g skeins, 655 m (716 yds).
BFL/ silk lace: This lovely blend combines the slightly crisp feel of superwash Bluefaced Leicester wool (55%) with the lovely shine of silk (45%). It takes colour beautifully, from pale tints to the most intense hues. Each 100g skein offers 800 m (875 yds).
Alpaca/ silk/ cashmere lace wt.: A drapey lace-weight yarn, with a soft halo and luxurious hand that comes from 70% alpaca, 20% silk, and 10% cashmere. This yarn takes colour softly, creating lovely subdued pastels and mid-tones. 100g skeins provide 800 m (875 yds).
