fingering weight
Four Quarter: Four Quarter combines four sleek plies of 100% superwash merino into a smooth fingering weight yarn that has excellent stitch definition. 100g skeins provide 400 m (437 yds). Available as 100g gradients and straights (tonal, semi-solid, or variegated), plus mini-skeins (20g each) and micro-skeins (10g each).
Merino fingering: A soft, classic 100% superwash merino with 2 high-twist plies, this yarn takes dye beautifully and works well for shawls, scarves, fingerless mitts, and other great accessories. Available as 100g gradients (361 m/ 395 yds) and 150g gradient giants (541 m/ 593 yds).
Tough Yak fingering: This is a drapey, super-soft combination of superwash merino (70%) and yak (20%), with a touch of nylon (10%) to add strength. The yak adds a faint halo to the yarn, which highlights the lovely deep, rich hues of the dye. 100g gradients of 400 m (437 yds).
Alpaca/ silk/ linen fingering: This is a sophisticated, lightweight yarn that combines the drape of alpaca (50%) and silk (25%) with the crisp feel of linen (25%). The linen and alpaca mean that it seems a bit hairy and crunchy at first, but it softens beautifully after blocking. It takes colours in soft, muted shades. 100g gradients provide 400 m (437 yds)
Merino/ nylon fingering: A classic high-twist, two-ply superwash merino (80%), with a bit of nylon (20%) for added strength. Standard 100g gradients offer 361 m (395 yds).
Sock: Sock is a sleek four-ply with the same texture and superwash merino as Four Quarter, but with 25% nylon added for strength. This base is available only as pairs of matching 50g gradient cakes that offer a total of 422 m (462 yds).
BFL giants: A sleek 4-ply fingering with a tight twist, this Bluefaced Leicester takes dyes beautifully, with rich saturated colours. This base comes in giant 150g gradients, offering plenty of yardage for shawls and other substantial projects (600 m/ 656 yds).
Merino/ silk fingering: A sleek, super-lustrous 4-ply blend of 50% superwash merino, 50% silk. This yarn has the lovely sheen and drape of classic silk yarns. 100g gradients provide 400 m (438 yds).
Kerfluffle: A super-soft, fluff yarn spun from 69% silk, 22% kid mohair, and 9% nylon. Its construction combines a thicker singles plied against a thin thread for stability; this makes for a gorgeous sheen and a fluffy halo that really showcase the dye colors. 100g gradients offer 349 m (382 yds).
Cabra giant: A super-soft 3-ply MCN with 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, and 10% nylon. It soaks up dye to create rich, saturated gradients with a strong dappled/ variegated effect. This yarn replaces our previous MCN giant base. On the heavy side of fingering, Cabra comes in 150g gradient giants that provide 510 m (558 yds).
