Do you want to learn how to spin you own yarn? Join spinner & fibre artist Lorna Ash of Shades of Ewe Fibreworks and explore how to make your own yarn using a drop spindle. You'll learn essential spinning basics like fibre selection, drafting and plying, so you can gain the skills to make yarns you love.
You will learn:
· Spinning vocabulary
· How to spin singles on a top-whorl drop spindle
· About the properties of wool
· About different fibre preparations and how those differences affect your spinning and your projects
· How to make a 2-ply yarn
· How to wet finish your yarn
· How to use your yarn in your projects
Materials: Participants will receive 50g of wool and will have access to a basic drop spindle to use during the workshop. You're encouraged to bring your own drop spindle, if you have one that you want to use during class.
Class size: 10 people maximum
Skill level: No experience necessary
Class fee: $95 (includes 4 hours of instruction + materials). Shades of Ewe fibre will be available for purchase after class. A limited number of drop spindles will also be available, should you want to buy your own.
Scholarships: A limited number of $30 scholarships are available for this class. If a scholarship would help make it more affordable for you to learn to spin, enter the code SpinThisSpring when you register for class. No need to explain or make a special request.

Cancellation policy: Registration fees are refundable (minus a 10% admin fee) until 24 hours prior to class. No refunds are available within 24 hours of class. (If you are sick, please do not come to class; contact me to make alternate arrangements.)
