Do you want to learn how to spin you own yarn? Join spinner & fibre artist Lorna Ash of Shades of Ewe Fibreworks and explore how to make your own yarn using a drop spindle. You'll learn essential spinning basics like fibre selection, drafting and plying, so you can gain the skills to make yarns you love.

You will learn:

·       Spinning vocabulary

·       How to spin singles on a top-whorl drop spindle

·       About the properties of wool

·       About different fibre preparations and how those differences affect your spinning and your projects

·       How to make a 2-ply yarn

·       How to wet finish your yarn

·       How to use your yarn in your projects

Materials: Participants will receive 50g of wool and will have access to a basic drop spindle to use during the workshop.  You're encouraged to bring your own drop spindle, if you have one that you want to use during class.
